Summary: Edificio Alta Mar is a 12 year old building with good facilities (pool, gym) and excellent security. However, the description of the suite we rented and the photos were not totally accurate. Yes, it had 2 b’rooms and 2 bathrooms and good AC but the suite needed an extensive facelift and improved kitchen equipment to match the description. For example, we could not use the shower in the en-suite because the little rubber grommets that create the water jets weee missing such that water ran out of one side off the shower head only. Both shower doors did not close properly which resulted in spray onto the floor. There was no proper P trap on the second bathroom sink allowing back flow of sewer gas into the suite (I fixed this myself as the host seemed quite disinterested in doing anything) - thank goodness for my engineering background. The paint on the side of the bed frame had peeled off and two of the four soup bowls had decent sized chips out of the rims. Also, there was a plumbing leak from our en-suite toilet into the suite below. We had to wait all day until the plumber came and then fixed the problem by lifting the entire toilet and resealing the base. We asked for some consideration from the host for the loss of a day but didn’t even get a response to our request. In summary the building was fine and the location proximity to the beach and the Walled City were great but the unit we stayed in is tired and needs work.
