Positive: The owners were absolutely fabulous. So kind and warm with smiles that put you at ease. We were quite hesitant to visit the Rosario islands in general after reading so many bad reviews about people getting scammed, but we had no issues at Paraíso Real. Nothing extra added to the bill, reasonable prices for food (40,000-50,000 for entrees which is on par with elsewhere on the island). You can eat all meals at Paraíso Real if you wish- the food was good. We liked the chicken the best. Room was extremely spacious, comfortable, quiet, and clean. AC was strong which is necessary in order to sleep well - the only affordable place I could find on the island with AC! They even have WiFi which we were surprised about. The hosts generally turn the electricity off during the day around 9-10 AM if I recall correctly until the evening (which means WiFi also shuts off), but we were away exploring the island and at the beach during most of that time and they were flexible to turn it on several times when we asked. It was even on in our room when we arrived after 11 AM. They booked the plankton tour for us and also had snorkel equipment we could rent.

Negative: The booking system was frustrating. The host asked us to deposit money of any amount into their Bancolombia account to secure our reservation and reduce the risk of cancellations. We didn’t like the principal of this and the inconvenience as we weren’t able to access a Bancolombia at the time of booking and for the following 1 week+. So we didn’t do it and told them we were coming and to please keep our reservation. Fortunately when we arrived, the greeted us happily and had not given away our reservation to someone else! As others have mentioned, Paraíso Real is not located on the coast but rather inland and the address shown on booking.com is incorrect. Use Eco Hotel Las Flores to navigate to Paraíso Real and make sure you have maps.me downloaded. Select “Kokomo” as your drop off location for your ferry transfer, as it’s the closest water access. Playa Libre is the only public beach (gorgeous) on the island and it’s ~30 minutes walking from Paraíso Real. We enjoyed the walk, but just something to note and factor in.
